From different angles it seems that the flowers are alive.
The philosophy of the painting is pairing. The first vertical pair of flowers looks in different directions, but they live together; the next vertical pair looks in the same direction and also live together; the third vertical pair is where one is led by the other and also live together; and the lonely bottom flower has already seen the red flower of love at the very top!
