In 1070-1077, Kyivan Prince Vsevolod Yaroslavych built his summer residence here, called the Red Court and better known as Zvirynets, and later founded the Vydubytskyi Monastery in this area. Ancient chronicles mention that a number of famous medieval figures, including princes Ihor Olhovych, Volodymyr Monomakh, Vasyl Terebovlskyi, and Danylo Halytskyi, either stayed in Vydubychi or issued decrees and laws that affected Vydubychi in one way or another.
